"Confirmed Dead" raised an astounding number of questions, many of which aren't likely to be answered for quite a while. One that we're hoping for a more immediate response to is that of Ben's informant: who is Ben's man on the inside?
With the freighter now so close at hand, and four of its occupants now landed on the island, it seems as though we won't have to wait very long for our answer. But for now, there seem to four main suspects on the minds of the stationzer0 posters: Walt, Michael, Regina, and Annie.
The last we saw of our good friends Walt and Michael, they were headed away from the island as fast as possible, leaving their fellow survivors behind in hopes of rescue. They seemed to be much better off than than Desmond, who could only wander aimlessly within the "snowglobe"; after all they, had specific coordinates from Ben. But come on now, Michael: do you really trust Ben's word? Sure, those coordinates might have lead to rescue. And, quite likely, they lead right to the freighter itself.
With Walt's special capabilities, the father/son duo would make an ideal informant team. Michael would have but to get on board the freighter on the pretense of being rescued, and everything else would fall into place. Those onboard the freighter would know they were getting closer, but Ben would gain valuable information. Michael would simply have to get the names of the passengers, and relay them back to Ben through Walt; the boy can astral project, so why not put that ability to good use? Ben could then forward the names to Mikhail, who would have been securely in The Flame at the time, and complete and detailed background checks would follow. Frequent updates would be easily accomplished.
What about Ben's childhood flame, Annie? According to TPTB, we haven't seen the last of her. What a twist it would be if she were alive the whole time. Perhaps Ben sent her off the island for her protection, and is now calling her back into duty for a favor. Ben's use of the word "man" is not necessarily so gender-specific.
Then there's Regina, the woman who Miles talked to when he was trying to contact Minkowsky. She could have easily knocked out Minowsky and taken control of the situation, hence the reason he wasn't available for a discussion with Miles. To take it a step further, Regina might even be Annie in disguise. Names aren't so difficult to change.
These ideas, and others, come from the posters on the s0 forums. Check out the discussion here , and give us your input. We'd love to hear your theories!
