I think we can all agree, to some extent, that Left Behind was average. Yes, we saw the monster, and yes, we saw Juliet and Kate's no holds barred jungle brawl, but it was not up to the standard that we come to expect from Lost. It had its positive and negative moments, but to be honest, it seemed......forced. The flashbacks were definitely filler, but hey; we're not gonna hold it against 'em, right? Next weeks episode looks interesting, to say the least, with the promo's promising some interesting interogation courtesy of Sayid. Drop the cut for spoilers and snippits to peak your interest:
Promotional Video's
- Elizabeth Mitchell says, ""It's a nice revelatory flashback. My first flashback episode wasn't particularly twisty or turny. This one is definitely twisty and turny.
And the stuff between me and Ben is pretty heartbreaking."
- Jack’s joyous reunion with his fellow survivors is cut short when they realize that accompanying him is one of “The Others,” and Claire is stricken by a mysterious, life-threatening illness
Guest starring are Robin Weigert as Rachel, William Mapother as Ethan Rom, Brett Cullen as Goodwin, Andrew Divoff as Mikhail, Nestor Carbonell as Richard Alpert, Joah Buley as other dude and Tyrone Howard as airport guard.
- On the UK Show "Richard and Judy," Carlton Cuse revealed that the Charlie "problem" would be resolved in episode 16.

I actually disagree with just about everything you said there. I actually really liked the episode, and I didn't think the flashbacks were filler at all. There was a piece of kate's story with her mother that was missing there. We finally got to see why her mother reacted the way she did. We finally see that both kate's mother and the man she thought was her father think that she is a selfish murderer.
Talking about filler... I'd say sayid, sawyer, and jack's flashbacks this season have been filler, if you really want to point fingers.I don't think it seemed forced at all. so, I don't think we can "all agree" in this case. :)

hehe, shoulda known you'd disagree :D. I'll reword it, if you like?

I think the flashbacks were anything but filler, it acctualy had a connection with the island, Kate thought she was saving jack, but she was doing it for herself, AND kate thought she killed her dad for her mum, but again she did it for herself.

but what did we REALLY learn? we saw cassidy, and learnt of her Sawyer connection, but come on; was it anything we couldn't have guessed? And the 'see my mom' thing; we'd seen it before. It was almost IDENTICAl to when she sneaked into the hospital to see her.

We learnt that the reason kate's mum betrayed her is because she loved him, and kate is a cold hearted bitch ^^

cerb, you don't have to reword anything. I was just giving my opinion, that's what comments are for =). What did we learn in sayid's flashback? What did we learn in jack's last four flashbacks? That sayid is a torturer? That jack has problems with women? THAT, to me, is filler.
Posted by: Anonymous | April 8, 2007 10:26 PM
oh come on. why did we think she betrayed her? as a big joke?
Posted by: cerberus | April 8, 2007 10:26 PM
it probably was, but it was of interest. Kates flashbacks have been to repetetive of late. I mean, these flashbacks; the story, going to see mom, was exactly the same as when she went to see her in hospital. go see mom, mom rejects, kate goes. ITS THE SAME, LOL! :D
Posted by: cerberus | April 8, 2007 10:29 PM
sorry that was me last time, forgot to put my name, hehe. I'm sorry, but if you think that's the same, look at Jack's. Daddy issues, marries wife, cheats on wife, wife cheats on him, thinks his father is cheating with his wife, divorces wife, has another affair, seperates, next thing they are going to have him falling in love with claire to break the monotony and go star wars style.
sawyer's character also completely bores me now. I think Kate is still interesting to me because the things she does on the island are interesting. I mean, what is sawyer's storyline supposed to be? Mr. nice guy? It's already getting old.
Basically, my point is, I don't think you can say Kate's story is filler without naming all of the other main characters. Want to know why? Because the show has focused on them so much, too much, so now the only characters that had flashbacks you don't think are filler are the ones who have been moved to the background. It's a 15 or so character show, not a five character show. I think the producers have forgotten that in an attempt to provide sex appeal to the audience.

i see what you mean. we need more focus on lesser characters. more hurley!
Posted by: cerberus | April 8, 2007 10:58 PM
We learnt that kate isn;t the rock hard person we thought she was. I agree with losty, Jackbacks are so boring.
Posted by: Mattyrewls22 | April 8, 2007 10:59 PM
okay the flashbacks were kind of fillers but we now have a connection between kate and sawyer. and how can you say that kate meeting her mum was like the time in the hospital the last time it was simply kate enters and her mum shouts and kate goes nothing no talking. but this related to what was going on the island at the time with jack.
don't get me started with what was going on on the island kate and juliet rolling in mud awesome! we saw the monster do something different than just going to attack people i mean what was up with the flashing lights. many questions to be asked about thisepisode as usual. such as how will the losties react to juliet an other coming to there camp? and, what is going to happen to locke has he been converted into an other? and, why did the others leave the barracks. i think this episode was anything but average and i think this is the standard has been set for the rest of the episodes this series. things can onliy get better.

>: i dont understand why the monster didn't just
go over the fence. like kate, locke, and sayid. and
i dont think any of the flashbacks are boring.i
love the show too much to think anything is boring. well the only flashback that i ever thought was
boring or a boring episode was locke's flashback
in walkabout. :)

ok just a thought, a bit un-relevant but, as we all know claire and jack are brother and sister from previous epsiodes. Unknown to them that they are related, but I wonder if Juliet knows. I think this because "the others" seem to know every bit of info about each of the survivors, so...... do they know about jack and claire. I hope this story does open up, would be interesting to see what happens ???

filler? seriously? i have to wholeheartedly disagree. i don't think the flashbacks are random or filler. there has to be a specific reason we are viewing specific flashbacks at certain island times. the correlation between the mood of the flashback and island conflict is too glaring to be incidental plot devices.

Ok, i love Juliet as a charactor!!!! So i just read Interscopes tease!!! Anyway I think that the producers what everyone to think Juliets loyalties are conflicted. They want u to believe that she is still with the others because it wouldn't be a series if it was to obvious were her loyalties lie. I think that she genualy likes possibly loves Jack and thats were the question between her loyalty to him or Ben will play out. They want u to believe that she is a plant because that is the most obvious thing to believe. Thats why they tease us with the ending to "One of us." I think when it comes done to it though that Ben will be suprised that Juliet sides with the 815'ers. This will be the beginning of Bens's donfall.

i think juliet is more minipulative than ben at times, its a way or surviving, they use what ever story they can to live and use whoever they want to help do this
