Following this past Wednesday's Lost Episode (Further Instructions), there's been a lot of discussion about Locke's rekindled purpose and his sketchy past. There's plenty of material to discuss, do not get me wrong. The Locke of Season One has made a comeback. That guy whose faith in the island that gave him back the use of his legs, is back. He even said so. He lost faith in the island, but not anymore (paraphrased, of course).
But I'm here to bring up another revelation: We met new Losties!
When Locke brought Eko back to camp, a bunch of Losties gathered around. Among them were the normal random "extras" but two of them actually spoke! Nikki and Paolo. Judging from their interaction with the "regulars", I think this will not be these two's only appearance on the show.
Nikki seemed a bit too interested in where Jack was. Was she just fearful of the fate of the group's defacto "leader"? Or is there more to the story? I think I remember some rumors about this new cast member being a potential love interest for Jack, but I don't know if it was spoiler info, foiler info, or me just reading way to much stuff about the show and getting my lines crossed. Regardless, Nikki's lines should signal something more for her in future episodes. I'll be keeping an eye out.
Paolo is another interesting development. Is it just me or did he strike you as someone who wouldn't be in the background for this long? Specially given the situation these people are in. I would think that he'd be one of the major players as he doesn't look like a weakling and in the game of survival, the strongest usually take charge, mostly by necessity. Human nature. He definitely asserted himself a little in this "introduction".
