The Little Prince
Episode 5.04

The opening scene takes us back to Penny’s boat during the Oceanic 6 rescue. Jack and Kate enjoy a nice moon-light talk about Aaron, and lying and Sawyer and how to lie really good. Flash forward to Sun and Kate and Aaron three years later. Turns out, pretty little Sun received a special delivery that includes surveillance pics of Jack and Ben—she got a new gun, too. For some reason, she’s a bit angry.

Charlotte is down, bloody and unresponsive. The Losties are lost as to what to do.

Kate wants to cut a deal with the legal team looking for bloodwork. Baby Aaron is at stake and Kate is in a state of panic by the time the meeting is over.

Locke explains to a surely Sawyer about his plan to get the Oceanic 6 back to the island to make things right. Locke wants to go to the Orchid station as a starting off point for his plan. Sawyer agrees and they trod off. Locke seems driven by destiny and Sawyer seems as pliable as a tissue.

The next scene is super cool and occurs in the hospital. Sayid and Jack are interrupted by a disorderly male nurse with a dart gun and Benjamin Linus. Of course, one of the four ends up on the ground, not moving. In the middle of this, Hurley calls Jack from jail and says he’s totally cool. A prison jumpsuit can put a smile on anybody’s face.

At (or near) the Orchid, the group sees a bright light beaming from the ground. It seems like the original “hatch light” from Locke’s first encounter. Locke decides to steer the group clear. Deeper into the jungle, we discover the losties are actually back in the early post-crash days as Sawyer witnesses Kate helping Clair give birth. The burley dude is moved to tears. Then…another time flash—Sawyer doesn’t want to talk about what he saw. He storms away from Locke grumpy and sad.

Wow. Two versions of the same person existing in the same time line would mean there has to be various time strings—I think.

Jack hooks up with Kate. Kate’s in deep stuff and has to drive away with Jack before Jack can talk about the island. The two find out that it is Claire’s mother who is seeking custody of little Aaron. Locke and Sawyer have a chat while hiking through the jungle in the daylight. Locke fesses up to leading the group away from the Orchid hatch the previous night—the same night in that time line that Boone died.

Miles and Faraday have a nice chat too. Miles confesses to a nosebleed. The group finds the original lostie camp. Something is terribly wrong. There are cool pontoon boats on the beach and not a soul in site. Free boats for all! On the ride, Sawyer confesses to Juliet about his vision of Kate and of course, bullets start to fly from a pursing pontoon boat. A time flash brings them into a heavy storm at night and they head for the shore.

Jack and Claire’s mom have a meeting in a hotel room concerning Aaron and Kate. Turns out, the whole Claire’s-mom-thing was a total ruse…the old bait and switch. Jack is freaked.

Finally, some quality Ben time. He and Sayid are in a van and have a sleazy meeting with a sleazy man Ben calls his lawyer. Hurley is gonna be free of charges soon.

The canoe-losties have made it back to the beach. Sawyer is a bag of Kate-mush as Juliet prods him into “talking.” And then, Juliet’s nose begins to bleed. Locke discovers French wreckage of some type and we switch to a life raft full of arguing French dudes, struggling with the storm. They discover something floating in the distance and paddle toward it.

It’s Jin and he’s taking a cat-nap on a floating piece of something.

Jack and Kate are in a dark car by the pier…Ben shows up with Sayid and they break the news to Kate about the great idea they have to go back to the island. We find out that Ben was actually the client trying to take Aaron away. Sun is sitting in a car, watching the whole thing happen when she decides to take her new gun out of her purse and stroll into the reunion—baby Aaron in the backseat of the car the entire time.

The Frenchies are grilling Jin on the beach. We meet a young, hot Danielle…and she’s a lot friendlier. I instantly decided that she did not age well during her island time.

No polar bears, yet.

Still waiting for the Smoke Monster.

This was my least favorite episode of the new season.

I rate this 6 out of 10 Namastes.
