Michael Emerson plays the probable leader of The Others in Lost. Aged 51, he is a succesful American actor, having had roles in both stage and television. Born and raised in Iowa, Emerson attended Drake University, majoring in theatre, and then moved to New York City.
Upon arrival, Emerson had trouble finding substancial work, and worked in retail for many years. In 1986, him and his first wife moved to Florida, where he acted in local stage productions and worked as a teacher and director.
After finally breaking in to mainstream acting, Emerson played the role of Oscar Wilde in the Broadway production of Gross Indecency: The Trials of Oscar Wilde. From here on, Emerson took part in many plays, such as The Misanthrope opposite Uma Thurman, and The Iceman Cometh with Kevin Spacey. After starring as a serial killer in a few episodes of The Practice, Emerson was presented with an Emmy award for Outstanding Guest Actor.
Emerson is probably best known for his roles in the movie Saw, and for portraying Benjamin Linus in Lost. Originally cast as a guest star, he proved a popular character and was cast as part of the usual crew for season 3.
Once divorced, Emerson is now happy with his second wife, Carrie Preston. Preston herself starred in Straight Jacket, a film released in 2004.
As Benjamin Linus in Lost, Emerson plays a claculated leader of many. Captured by the plane crash survivors, he fed them lies, even going so far as to give them a false name. However, he was figured out, but eventually helped to escape by Michael, who was desperate to see his son again. Upon kidnapping Jack, Kate and Sawyer, he revealed he was dying of a tumour. Jack agreed to fix him, and Ben is now seen to be recovering, although considerably weakened.

man......ben linus for me, is a great character...he is calculist and cold...inteligent....and i don't know if he is a bad guy, so....he is "the other"....hehehehe....
I like the others, cause with them, the 3rd season is the best for me......................................
