Jorge Garcia, aged 33, plays Hurley, a large man with confidence problems, in Lost. Garcia, of Chilean and Cuban ancestry, was born in Omaha, Nebraska. After enjoying taking part in a play at a young age, he considered a career in acting, going to college and eventually joined the Beverley Hill's Playhouse.
He has worked as an actor ever since, performing on the sitcom Becker, and on Spin City. He also dabbled in the theatre side of acting, perfroming in productions such as Fiddler on the Roof, Hurlyburly and Guys and Dolls. He was the first actor to be cast in Lost.
In Lost, Garcia plays Hurely, a cheerful man with hidden confidence problems. It is revealed that Hurley spent time in Santa Rose Mental Hospital, after believing he caused an incident that led to the deaths of many people. On the island, Hurley falls in love with Libby, but her death break Hurleys heart, and he seems more serious at the beginning of season 3.
