Elizabeth Mitchell, aged 36, plays the role of Juliet Burke, and Other, in Lost. Born in California, Mitchell is an American actress with a history in theatre. Married to Chris Soldevilla, she is a mother to one, Christopher Junior, whom she calls C.J.
Mitchell is well known for roles such as Carol Newman in succesful Christmas films The Santa Clause 2 and 3. Her most recent project, Lost, is probably the one that brought her the widest recognition, and she is emerging as a main character in season 3.
Mitchell is highly skilled in quite a few defensive techniques. These include hand to hand combat, rapier skills and dagger skills.
In her role as Juliet, Mitchell plays an Other, but one who seems to show compassion, unlike some of her companions. She looks after Jack, who is being held captive by her people, bringing him food and drink. In order to encourage Jack to save Ben from death, she allows Kate and Sawyer to escape, shooting one of her own people in the process. For this she is almost punished with death, until Jack saves her. Instead, she is just branded.
