Daniel Day Kim's character on LOST, Jin, comes from a humble background - a fisherman's son - he works his way up through Paik industries eventually earning permission to marry the owner's daughter. Once in the inner circle, Jin finds himself entwined in the illicit side of Mr. Paik's business, threatening government officials and being asked to forcibly coerce associates who have fallen out of line. He keeps his duties as a secret shame from his wife Sun, who instead thinks his withdrawn and darkening nature is the emergence of a true self she wants nothing to do with.

On the island his skulking protectiveness intensified shortly after the crash. At first he appeared to be smothering his wife with protection. As time went on, Jin became one of the most valued survivors. A man of honor who protects his friends and family at all cost; his fishing skills come in pretty handy too. As season three began, we found out that Jin is beginning to tackle the language gap, learning to speak and understand more and more English. When we last left him, he had returned to the beach with Sayid and Sun after losing Desmond's sail boat to "The Others".
