So basically, this is my query. The Others are a group of intelligent, strong, armed men and women, who assert their authority and power to get what they need, and to defend their territory. They were quick to kidnap the strong amongst the losties, and they seem to have done something similar to employee's of DHARMA. They are now using DHARMA hatches, seemingly eating DHARMA food, and living in their own private village. Surrounded by a fence that keeps OUT hostile beings, they look to be a dominant force on the island. This might be true, if it wasn't for The Monster, a creature who, according to Juliet, is a mystery to even them. So, believing this to be true, I have this to ask: why, in the decades they've lived on the island, have they never done the intelligent thing? Why have they never used the fence to lock The Monster INSIDE the fence? I mean, they're very powerful, and have been seen to live in a couple of other places other than their village. With The Monster representing something that could easily defend itself against them, in my opinion, Ben, apparently hungry to defend his status and followers, would not want it to live as a threat to them. So, in that case: why not sacrifice their village to keep them alive? It seems Ben has no trouble risking the safety of his people: after all, sending men to shoot at heavily armed losties and dumping Juliet in the forest is not putting their best interests at heart. So, in Ben's eyes, would leaving one man/woman behind to activate the fence after drawing The Monster inside be such a loss? I think not. I think that The Monster is in fact under the control of The Others. Juliet is a liar.
This whole idea was developed by me and Jb the Crazy. We think it makes sense, but hey, we're tired. Please, feel free to leave an opinion.

Like REALLY tired!!! Yes some of us more tired then others hey Cerb? and yes to the point that i was getting across was yes why wouldn't they trap it inside a fence they know it hates, another thing to leave you with before i pass out on my keyboard is this, why didn't Smokey just go over the fence like Kate, Locke, Sayid & Rousseau. Is this why they didn't try and trap Smokey, Why didn't the others build another fence oh yeah again with the using of DHARMA technology, Why say to someone whose opinion you don't care about that its YOUR fence yous didn't build it, yous stole all your stuff.

my answer to that would be the whole dog thing. If smokey is cerberus, then cerberus is a dog in mytholgical stuff. maybe smokey shows feral qualities. If a dog is in pain, it doesn't think rationally.It acts on instinct. It kind of attacked the fence, then, in pain just ran away. Like a dog....

i think that "smokey" is another dharma invent or proyect, and the others cant´t control yet.... maby "smokey" start to kill all the dharma peple, that is why ther is a fence.

I translated it for rrrr. It was actually Russian. I took it in school.
"hmmm.. This is probably true as the others probably don't actually fear the Black Smoke. But if they do not fear the Black smoke and it is their "secruity system" why then did they make a fence to protect themselves from it."
I hope i didn't butcher that. It is a valid point. The Black Smoke cannot be working for the Others because why make protection from the protection. The Black Smoke must be guarding something else.

A lot of the words he used, like the one for The Black Smoke would literally be translated as "haze" however, I assumed he was referring to Smokie.
