It is starting to look like those people were on to something. As much as I hate to admit it, there seems to be a time loop thing going on here and we may even find out that all the "mysterious" stuff on the Island is basically a product of the Losties time traveling.
That would suck.
Not sure what I mean? Let's put it this way: The Swan wouldn't exist if Faraday hadn't traveled back in time and told the Others to bury the nuke in concrete. Or Locke is only "special" because he traveled back in time and told Alpert he was special. Self-fulfilling prophecies and such.
Now, there are some things that cannot be explained away by the time loop / self-fulfilling prophecy argument. Desmond, for example. He seems not to be affected by the Island hopping stuff... at least not physically. His time traveling is done in his head. So there's obviously something more to it, but this episode didn't really do much to give me hope of something more.
Is there room for more than just the Time Loop? I think so. There may be a level beyond the loop where Ben and Widmore are these master chess players who are using this "reality" we call LOST as their game board. Or maybe there's a group of these Time Masters who set things in motion and watch what happens. Who knows?
At least we now know that Ben was basically just trying to scare Kate into running back to the Island instead of someone else trying to take Aaron away. We also know that Jin is alive and back on the Island. We can put the Ella = Danielle theory to rest (for the record, I never believed it).
It will be interesting to see what happens now. Who is Sun going to shoot? How the heck are the Oceanic Six going to get back to the Island and when? And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let there be something much cooler than the Time Loop theory prevail.
See you next week.
