Thanks to rl212007 for finding this email first: http://www.dharmawantsyou.com/site/emails/0729.php

Not everyone has received this email yet, but it's boilerplate stating that the Dharma Wants You site has opened for testing! (FINALLY)

Check the source code of that email page. We have two comments in there, duplicated in META format

<!-- Banks Claw --> <!-- DOUBLEYOUDOUBLEYOUDOUBLEYOUDOTyoutubeDOTcomFORWARDSLASH watchQUESTIONMARKvEQUALScW6xkv9vwos -->

The link in the second comment, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW6xkv9vwos leads to a video uploaded by RuckusGuy that he recorded at ComicCon.

The first comment can be anagrammed to "Black Swan." (thanks, WickedSlip)

The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable is a book about randomness and uncertainty by epistemologist Nassim Nicholas Taleb. The UK cover of this book has two origami swans (remember the Dharma flyer at Comic-Con?) one white on a black background, the other black on white.

Not sure if Heisenberg's Uncertainity principle will play into this in any way, but I sure do like randomness!

The Dharma Wants You site says there will be a test each week. Good luck to everyone!

DWY has gone live, as of 11:15 pm EST.

If you want to sign up for the volunteer program, you'll need to take the eligibility test. You can do this by clicking "Are you a new recruit?" Clicking "Are you a registered recruit?" takes you to the login. If you were a comic con recruit, you are exempt from the test and can choose to go straight to the registration phase.

Apparently, volunteer assesment tests will take place weekly, and top scorers will be logged on the leader board.

Station Inhabitants
Despite the wondrous distractions of summer, Stationzer0 is experiencing a noticeable increase in viewers and new members.  With new members come new voices (AprilisLost and lockefan, to name some) that are welcome and appreciated.  Some old members are drifting back into our flotsam and jetsam, and that's awesome as well.

The Latest on Lost
Evangeline Lilly shall present her confused-loveliness on the big screen.  Her movie is titled THE HURT LOCKER.

Evangeline LillyThe movie isn't receiving the greatest reviews, depending on who you're reading.  Still, for gosh-sakes—IT'S KATE!

This is the ultimate in LOST role-playing games and is upon us at this moment. Already, characters have been chosen, fate is rolling the dice, and the smoke monster is warming up in the bullpen.  Registration has now closed for the seventh game, but don't hesitate to read along and post in the website's Outsiders forum. You might be rewarded for your efforts....

Lost Theory of the Week
We were all surprised to see the Others finally show up at the end of season 4.  Where were they hiding all that time?  A few Stationzer0 members have some interesting thoughts on that inside.
.
New and Cool

Many Stationzer0 members enjoy the benefits of Facebook.  The social networking site recently announced a face life to its interface to go into effect within the next few days.  It appears that users on the east coast are getting the first look at Facebook's new face.

Right Now

bladerunnaThe much beloved S0scar ceremonies have concluded, but there may still be a few folks lingering around at the Afterparty—the free shrimp and unlimited cocktail supply too tempting to leave.  A big round of applause needs to go out to the one and only Bladerunna and The Mad for putting it together and actually making it fun!

You rock, guys!

Editor's Note

Two major Lost-oriented games are going on at the moment.  The Octagon Global Recruiting game is all about "dots" for now, but Comic-Con will have changed that by the time you read this.

Battle for the Island is currently assigning characters for the game to begin at the end of the month.  I've got mine.

The series off-season seems to fly by when these types of events are available.  I would encourage everybody to take a look, participate and enjoy.  Before you know it, we'll be sitting in front of the TV watching the first episode of Lost's fifth season.

One of many questions we should be asking ourselves this hiatus: what is death?

I’ve always thought of death as the termination of one’s life. Lately, with the influence of the show, I find myself altering my simplistic view into one that is more complex. What is death, but a new state of being?

This seems more relevant than ever with the events of the past season. Speculation now rages as to which characters are dead, and which are alive. Before we are able to answer either of those questions, however, we must ask a much more elementary one. What does it mean to be dead on Lost? I once thought it was an all-encompassing term which referred to states of both physical and mental being. Now, however, I find myself forced to reconsider. The show, as it always has, pushes me to redefine within the confines of the Lost universe those terms which once seemed clear as day.

So, let’s take the most obvious example, Christian Shephard. Fans and theorists have been pondering his state of being since early in season one. The empty casket at first left us all wondering if he was actually alive in a physical sense on the island somewhere. Then, his appearance in Jacob’s cabin led us all toward a more complex line of thinking. I think that Christian is both alive and dead, depending on how you personally define death. It seems that as a physical entity, he’s more of an illusion, or some type of manifestation. But his mind is as alive as it’s ever been, and freshly enlightened by Jacob and Jacob’s way of thinking. The fact that Sawyer was not awakened by Claire and Christian’s communication lends further evidence. It would appear that, like Jacob and other visions on the island, Christian is part of a spiritual world that is not sensed by just anyone. Rather, it can only be sensed by those to whom it is specifically revealed, or those who are “special”.

Explaining Christian’s presence is easy compared to explaining Claire’s. She appeared physically alive, for all intents and purposes, right up until the point when she left Aaron in the jungle and went off with Christian. Some speculate that she actually died in the house explosions in Othersville, and this very well may be correct. Or, she might have still been alive. Regardless, it would appear that she too now belongs to this same separated sphere of existence as Christian. She too must be a recipient of some information from Jacob.

The definition of death is a highly subjective topic. Let us know your opinions on how to define death within the context of the show, who is dead and who alive, and any other thoughts you have, by stopping by the forums.

There's a lot going on... the
LOST Rewind
is in full throttle,
the S0scars have passed happily into the realm of "felonies," and the we've all learned that Agent Smith's jockstrap has some "pre-placed" holes in it.

TheZer0.com continues to post new, cool and amazing stuff.... The Human Improv Mirror will
leave you laughing, smiling and saying WTF.

LOST THEORY OF THE WEEK.... Is Vincent, the yellow lab that belongs to Walt, more than a normal hound who loves burgers, fries and human hands? Some of us think so... visit this Theory of the Week to learn more.

Games
The LOST Alternate Reality Game OCTAGON GLOBAL RECRUITING (OGR) is in our laps. New emails have gone out and already two critical clues (maybe they’re clues) have come to the surface.

WOW! Stationzer0 is providing at least three customizable prize packages for members who participate and post within the context of the game. T-shirts, coffee mugs.... Be sure to check out the Octagon Participation Prizes thread to see all the cool details!

The Latest on Lost
With filming just a few weeks away, there simply isn't much floating around yet. Our favorite
Michaeldead islander Harold Perrineau (Michael) is still the topic of conversation among writers and producers. Check out Blade and Jim’s SPOILER Thread to read about the details.

Jim and I and our newsletter received some very welcomed recognition this week from our friends at Stationzer0.

See how well we took the news in the S0scars Acceptance Thread.

I know that both of us have really enjoyed putting this together and getting it out every week. Please keep your suggestions coming.

The annual S0scars are being handed out again this week.  Go to the Ceremony, witness the Acceptance speeches, and head on over to the Bar for more hilarity than most of us can handle.  The S0scars recognize site members for specific contributions, outlandish personality, and overall enthusiasm for their favorite LOST fan site, Stationzer0.

Our exclusive sister site TheZer0 releases "speciality" stories and blurbs that, although not LOST-related, are of interest to many LOST fans.  Take a look at the Upcoming story featuring "Rep Rep," a machine that duplicates itself.

LOST Rewind—a summer-long event during which we're re-watching the ENTIRE series—is off and running.  Whether you're watching on DVD, streaming HD at ABC.com, or our very own "jimView," the rewind is combined with weekly chats in which our members re-discuss the week's episodes.

The Alternate Reality Game (ARG) Octagon Global Recruiting is starting at the end of the week.

.

For the experienced, it is generally realized that the best approach to this game is a team approach.  Stationzer0 not only boasts great LOST minds but also tremendously talented game players.  Keep your eyes on all the OGR threads—we tend to openly share any information that comes our way.  This game has been highly anticipated by most of the Stationzer0 team—"chomping at the bit" is a good way to describe the current emotional state of our members.

Our favorite hillbilly-renegade Sawyer (Josh Holloway) is getting
Sawyerattention for something he did that no one has ever seen—or, most likely, will ever get to see. Explore Lost in the News to find out more.  Do you remember this scene with Sawyer at the bar?  Probably not.

Next week, a new section called THEORY OF THE WEEK will appear.  There are so many to pick from... please send help and a delicious snack.

Many of the veteran members of Stationzer0 are deeply amused by the unfolding saga known as "Jeremy Bentham" within ABC's off-season reality game, OGR.  If you're playing, you HAVE to investigate the threads.  If you're curious, check it out—see what you're getting yourself into.  This is pure summer fun!

S0scarsThe S0scars begin today! Check out the S0scars forum and witness the insanity that is the constant within Stationzer0!  Events and presentations are scheduled to occur during most of July.

It's summer—hotter than Helen's hat. The newest and coolest thing going on is the beer I just bought that is sitting in my refrigerator.

The Bacon Donut is pretty damn cool, too.

There are some intense exchanges—peaceful, for now—going on in the character forums.  Who's good?  Who's evil?  Who pays the grocery bills?

On our user front, Lo$tto lost his $ and then got it back.  Sun Ray is still ambiguous.  Find out more inside.

.

Don't forget... Lost Rewind starts tomorrow!  I believe it is currently BYOB.

The Movie Game is a challenge for anyone who prides themselves on watching every movie ever made and knowing every actor in those movies.  Find it in Off-Topic.

Find the link for DarkUFO and join the Lost Fantasy League.  It's easy; it makes watching even more fun!  Pick your characters, and cross your fingers.

The San Diego ComicCon is getting closer and closer.... Already, there have been some interesting revelations.
Check out the Octagon Global Recruiting forum to get updated on what to expect if you're attending!  ABC and our friends at LOST are to be involved in the convention in some interesting ways.

Of all the ways to get to know a person, listening to the music THEY like has got to be one of the most efficient. Check out the Absolute Best Music of All Time thread and get to know us.
